My Progress
When I first began this French course, I was extremely intimidated due to the fact that it’s been several years since my last French class.
My goals for this semester are as follows : 1.) Proper Pronunciation. 2.) Holding A Conversation. I want to be able to hold at least a five minute conversation in French without stuttering or hesitating. 3.) My goal is to increase my knowledge about French culture including art history and independent films
I am pleased with the improvements that I have been making with my pronunciation and written composition. Yet I still have a long way to go before I reach my ultimate goal of becoming fluent in French. Although I’m not a patient person, I have been able to pace myself with realistic goals. I’ve also noticed my comprehension skills are improving with the activities where we have to listen to conversations. I still need much improvement when it comes to reading the French articles. It’s hard to focus because I sometimes get overwhelmed at the thought of translating multiple paragraphs. Sadly, I haven’t really attempted to hold conversations with other people or take advantage of the FLRC. It’s hard to make time for things outside of class because my schedule is busy due to my job. Finally, I have done very well with studying French culture. Thanks to Netflix, I’ve been able to watch some French movies.
All in all, I am very satisfied with the progress that I have made within the past two months. Knowing where my weaknesses are has helped me to customize an effective study routine. I do know that mastering a foreign language is a process and I’m excited to continue this journey in the French language.
